Billing FAQ:

  1. How do I know how much I owe after going to the Emergency Department?

Thank you for being conscientious about paying your healthcare bills! If you have health insurance, your plan is billed before receiving any balance statements.  Billing insurance can take time, and the process is unlikely to exceed a month or two, so hang tight. Once that process is done, you will be sent an Explanation of Benefits from your insurance company, and you will receive any remaining bill for your Emergency Physician. It is important to note that you may receive multiple bills from different sources for your visit, like the hospital, the physicians, the laboratory, etc. This is normal, and for our services, we are happy to help you navigate your bill and options.

  1. How can I make a payment?

You will be able to pay for your visit once your insurance is invoiced and your remaining balance is determined. Once you receive a billing statement, there is a reference number you can use to access your account. Start by clicking this link: Extended Business Office Services – Medical Bill Collections (assistentcy.com) to pay your balances or set up a payment plan. We use Assistency as a bill payment partner.  If you don’t have insurance coverage and are 100% responsible for your healthcare costs, you will get a statement within 30 days of your care to understand how much you owe.

  1. What if I can’t pay my entire balance at once?

Once you receive your billing statement indicating your balance, follow this linkEXTENDED BUSINESS OFFICE SERVICES – MEDICAL BILL COLLECTIONS (ASSISTENTCY.COM)and our billing partner can help you with payment plans without any penalties. They are here to help.

  1. What if I have insurance coverage that wasn’t listed when I checked in at the Emergency Department?

If you have health insurance coverage, change of address, updated phone number, or any other information that was not shared at the time of registration, you can call the hospital registration team at (903) 416-4000 and update that information.  Those updates will then come through to all the service providers that saw you during your visit.  This way, you only have to provide the updates once.
